This Bahraini-American Artist Has Won the First Richard Mille Art Prize at Louvre Abu Dhabi

Recognition!

Bahraini-American artist, Nasser Alzayani just won the first Richard Mille Art Prize worth $50,000 at Louvre Abu Dhabi. Richard Mille Art Prize is a partnership between the Swiss brand and Louvre Abu Dhabi as an attempt to highlight contemporary artists within the region. Nasser Alzayani’s winning work ‘Watering the distant, deserting the near’ (2021) is actually centered on Ain Adhari, a spring in the Kingdom.

The winning prize is $50,000 but the artist has shared it with the shortlisted candidates in an attempt to support artists! How amazing is this! All the artists had decided beforehand that the prize money will be split, no matter who won! This is such a cool way to show support and empower fellow artists!

‘Watering the distant, deserting the near’  is up at Louvre Abu Dhabi till the end of this month but catch Nasser Alzayani’s work at the current exhibition at Al Riwaq Art Space, Post-fiction: Manama!
