HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa’s Global Award for Women’s Empowerment is now open for the second round of applications! The award itself aims to highlight the private and public sector, women’s right champions , and civil society that furthers gender equality.

As it currently stands, the award is a joint effort by Bahrain as well as UN Women – and the announcement of open applications occurred during the Generation Equality Forum co-hosted by UN Women along with France and Mexico’s governments. The winners from the last edition in 2019 included the Abu Dhabi Police Force under the public sector category, Nepalese microfinance firm Mahila Sahayatra Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. under the private sector category, and Sustainable Development for All Kenya under the civil society sector.
The winning individual champion was Dr. Kalpana Sankar, Chairperson and Managing Trustee of Hand in Hand India – an organization which aims to provide digital and financial services to empower women entrepreneurs in India.

التقديم مفتوح للنسخة الثانية من الجائزة العالمية لتمكين المرأة
الجائزة العالمية لتمكين المرأة التي تقدمها الأميرة سبيكة بنت إبراهيم آل خليفة مفتوحة الآن للجولة الثانية من التقديم! وتهدف الجائزة في حد ذاتها إلى تسليط الضوء على القطاع الخاص والعام، وعلى أبطال حق المرأة، والمجتمع المدني الذي يعزز المساواة بين الجنسين.
وهذه الجائزة، هي جهد مشترك بين البحرين وكذلك هيئة الأمم المتحدة للمرأة – وتم الإعلان عن فتح طلبات التقديم خلال منتدى المساواة بين الأجيال الذي اشتركت في استضافته هيئة الأمم المتحدة للمرأة إلى جانب فرنسا وحكومات المكسيك. وكان من بين الفائزين من الطبعة الأخيرة في عام 2019 قوة شرطة أبو ظبي تحت فئة القطاع العام، وشركة التمويل الصغير النيبالية ماهيلا ساهاياترا بيتيا سانسثا المحدودة تحت فئة القطاع الخاص، والتنمية المستدامة للجميع في كينيا تحت قطاع المجتمع المدني.
وكانت البطلة الفائزة هي الدكتورة كالبانا سانكار، رئيسة منظمة “Trustee of Hand in Hand India” – وهي منظمة تهدف إلى تقديم الخدمات الرقمية والمالية لتمكين منظِّمات المشاريع في الهند.
