Where nature & architecture come together
A UOB graduate, Haneen Altehmazi, conceptualized a breathtaking resort set in Sakhir for her graduation project – and the result is something we really want to see implemented!! The resort is designed in a way that stays ‘true to nature’ and the fragility of the desert, and how architecture can accommodate for that. We talked to Haneen about her inspiration behind the concept, and she mentioned that the aim was for everyone to slow down and really take in nomadic lifestyle of Bahrain’s desert, she’s got different lodges designed for different people’s desires – not to mention the tourist-y facilities to complete the whole desert oasis experience!
The Glamping Dome is the modern way of taking in all those desert vibes, camping while star gazing and really being able to take in the ‘wildlife desert’ as Haneen explained. She also said:
The project aims to have a sustainable relationship between traditional camping and the fragile desert. Most importantly. The project would be aesthetically pleasing and sincere to nature, as it protects the endangered flora and fauna in the region. Emphasizing the desert and its beautiful hidden features to create a promised journey.

هذي المصممة المعمارية صورت لنا منتجع صحراوي جميل في منطقة الصخير ونحتاج نشوفه على أرض الواقع
عندما تختلط الطبيعة بالعمارة معاً
لقد قامت خريجة جامعة البحرين الطالبة حنين التهمزي بتصوير منتجع رائع في منطقة الصخير لمشروع تخرجها من الجامعة – والنتيجة كانت شي فعلاً نبي نشوفه على أرض الواقع! وصممت المنتجع بيطريقة تظل صادقة مع الطبيعة وهشاشة الصحراء، وشلون ممكن للهندسة المعمارية استيعاب هالشي. تحدثنا مع حنين عن إلهامها الي ورا هذي الفكرة، وذكرت أن الهدف من هذي الفكرة هو ان الكل يجرب وياخذ على الحياة الصحراوية في البحرين. وعندها تصاميم مختلفة وعديدة لرغبات الناس المختلفة – ناهينكم عن المرافق السياحية الي بتكمل تجربة هذي الواحة الصحراوية.
كما ذكرت حنين أن قبة التخييم هي الطريقة الحديثة الي تملك كل هذي الأحاسيس والأجواء الصحراوية. وأحلى شي هو التخييم أثناء التحديق بالنجوم والقدرة على التكييف مع الحياة الصحراوية.
وقالت أيضاً: “يهدف هذا المشروع إلى إقامة علاقة مستدامة بين التخييم التقليدي والصحراء الهشة. والأهم من ذلك سيكون المشروع ممتع ومخلص للطبيعة جمالياً لأنه يحمي النباتات والحيوانات المهددة بالانقراض في المنطقة. والتأكيد على الصحراء وملامحها الخفية الجميلة لخلق رحلة موعودة.”
