Surgeons and doctors at the King Hamad University Hospital successfully removed a 3 kg tumour from a patient’s stomach. The patient was first admitted to the hospital complaining of severe swelling and pain in their abdomen accompanied by a loss of appetite. After a bevy of tests and examinations, they were diagnosed with sarcoma- a rare type of soft tissue cancer, that if left unattended could be fatal.
King Hamad University Hospital has always been on the cutting edge of medical technology, leading the way in Bahrain’s fight against Covid-19. They were amongst the first to utilise infrared technology as a preventative measure during the pandemic.
This isn’t the first rodeo either for the Oncology Department at King Hamad. Last year, they successfully removed a tumour from the brain stem of a woman in a 16 hour procedure that was led by Dr. Talal Al Maiman. And just a month before that, surgeons had successfully removed a 6 kg tumour from a woman’s uterus at King Hamad too.

إنتصار عملية جراحية على ورم كبير
نجح الجراحون والأطباء في مستشفى الملك حمد الجامعي في إزالة ورم وزنه 3 كجم من معدة مريض. تم إدخال المريض إلى المستشفى لأول مرة وهو يشكو من تورم شديد وألم في البطن مع فقدان الشهية بعد سلسلة من الفحوصات، تم تشخيصه بإصابته بالساركوما. نوع نادر من سرطان الأنسجة الرخوة، إذا تُرك دون علاج يمكن أن يهدد الحياة.
لطالما كان مستشفى الملك حمد الجامعي في طليعة التكنولوجيا الطبية الحديثة، حيث كان ولا زال رائدًا في مكافحة Covid-19. كانوا من بين أول من استخدم تقنية الأشعة تحت الحمراء كإجراء وقائي أثناء الوباء.
هذي مو أول مرة تنحسب لقسم الأورام في مستشفى الملك حمد. في العام الماضي، نجحوا في إزالة ورم من جذع دماغ امرأة و دامت مدة العملية 16 ساعة بقيادة الدكتور طلال الميمان. وقبل شهر واحد فقط، نجح الجراحون في إزالة ورم وزنه 6 كجم من رحم امرأة في مستشفى الملك حمد أيضًا.
