The royal palace announced the passing of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa early this morning.
HRH passed away in Mayo Clinic in the United States while receiving treatment.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has ordered a nation wide mourning for a week where flags will be flown at half mast. In addition, all government agencies will cease to operate for three days starting tomorrow, Thursday the 12th of November.
HRH was notably the longest serving prime minister in the world. His tenure in the position started a year before Bahrain declared independence from Great Britain in 1971.
