The Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) is taking a closer look at cases of Bahraini citizenship granted since 2010. The committee is double-checking the accuracy of all the data and documents used to acquire citizenship, ensuring that it was earned honestly. If it’s found that citizenship was obtained through false information or misused to harm the Kingdom’s interests, legal action will be taken, and this could also affect family members who received citizenship through dependency.
However, children of Bahraini women married to foreigners and foreign women married to Bahraini men are excluded from this review, following the criteria of the Bahraini Nationality Law of 1963 and its amendments.
The NPRA emphasized that Bahraini citizenship is a privilege for those who are truly loyal and devoted to the country, who respect Bahrain’s laws, security, and social harmony, and who are proud to call Bahrain home.
