On Fire! Bahrain’s Gor Minasyan Wins a Bronze Medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics

Bahrain just leveled up its Olympic game! The Kingdom got its third medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, making it the seventh medal in Bahrain’s Olympic journey since 1984. Shoutout to athlete Gor Minasyan, who secured a bronze in weightlifting with a total lift of 461 kg across snatch and clean and jerk. This win adds another medal to Bahrain’s tally at Paris 2024, following a gold and silver in athletics. Weightlifting is now officially the second sport, after athletics, to make it onto Bahrain’s Olympic medal board!

Minasyan is on fire, continuing to build his legacy among the champions who’ve put Bahrain on the global sports map. He’s been racking up wins worldwide, and this Olympic bronze is just the latest in his collection.

The big moment was witnessed by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, who cheered on Gor alongside His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority, and His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, along with several key members of the official and administrative delegation.

Sheikh Nasser was all smiles, sharing his excitement about this epic win. He sent his congrats to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Sheikh Nasser also gave a special shoutout to Gor Minasyan, pointing out that this victory is the result of some serious hard work and dedication from the athlete, his coaching team, and the backing of the Bahrain Weightlifting Federation.
