Another throwback
Below is a photo, taken in the 70s, of women gathering outside the Bahrain Young Ladies’ Association building. This is actually the first Women Association in the Gulf & Arab Island, which was established in 1955. The association started with a focus on empowering women, advocating for their rights, encouraging them to take up active roles in the community and even helping support women & families. This was a huge step in women support and women empowerment in Bahrain, and it’s important to highlight the empowered women that got women in Bahrain to where they are today!

تعتبر جمعية نهضة فتاة البحرين لعام 1970 من أوائل الجمعيات النسائية في الخليج والجزيرة العربية
في الأسفل صورة التقطت في السبعينات للنساء اللاتي تجمعن خارج مبنى جمعية الشابات البحرينية. وهذه في الواقع أول رابطة نسائية في الخليج والجزيرة العربية، التي أنشئت في عام 1955. وبدأت الرابطة بالتركيز على تمكين المرأة، والدعوة إلى حقوقها، وتشجيعها على الاضطلاع بأدوار نشطة في المجتمع المحلي، بل والمساعدة في دعم المرأة والأسرة. كما كانت هذه خطوة ضخمة في دعم المرأة وتمكينها في البحرين، ومن المهم تسليط الضوء على النساء المتمكنات اللاتي ساعدوا على وصول النساء في البحرين إلى ما هن عليه اليوم!
