Bahrain has introduced new rules for hiring expats in public sector jobs. Now, expats must have a master’s degree and at least 10 years of experience to qualify. Their contracts will be limited to two years, with one possible renewal, but only if approved by the Civil Service Bureau. Additionally, expat hires must train Bahraini staff to take over their roles, focusing on knowledge transfer and skill development. This move aims to give Bahrainis more government roles opportunities and increase local workforce expertise.
