Spotlight! This Bahraini Filmmaker Has Turned ‘Um Hamar’ Into a Short Horror Film

Hoove’s is coming to get you!

Remember the time when your mom used to scare you with Um Hamar? Hamad Abdulla, a Bahraini filmmaker turned this folklore into a short film named ‘Hooves’ and aims to showcase it at the biggest international festivals!

Hooves is a short horror film that is based on “Um Hamaar” a mythological creature that scared me during my childhood.

We can’t number how many times young children in Bahrain went to bed because of her story!

What’s the story?

In short, this mythical being is told to be an old woman that roams around in Bahrain and takes misbehaving kids away from the street. She’s told to be half human and half donkey and wears a black abaya which scared the kids so much, they’d start behaving!

About Hamad Abdullah

He is a young filmmaker from Bahrain and Hooves is one of his biggest projects. The movie was filmed in Los Angeles with a group of talented students, crew, and actors. He also added that this particular short horror movie was one of the toughest productions he’s been through as a director!

We are so proud and can’t wait to see one of our childhood horror stories as turn into an actual short film!
