Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre

Not all heroes wear capes!

If you are an animal lover and want to make a difference in a dog or cat’s life on the island, you can get involved with Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre (BARC), who’s collective efforts starting with Tony the Dogfather have saved countless animal lives for YEARS on the island.

Give a lending hand to these guys who do so much for animals, people, and the community and be part of the change! Keep reading to find out how to show your support to BARC.

1. DONATE

Being a non-profit animal charity run by volunteers, the shelter relies heavily on donations from the community to continue with their animal rescuing. You can always donate supplies and money if you can’t adopt or foster!

Show some love to the rescue by donating towards the general upkeep of the shelter by PayPal [email protected] or BenefitPay directly to Iban BH02NBOB00001832000222.

You can order pet and cleaning supplies to be delivered to the shelter through Wasel or drop them off by the gate. Things like wet and dry food, medicine, cat litter, treats, toys, collars, leashes, crates, etc are always needed.

There is also a Gofund Me page to help raise money going towards building a new shelter:

2. VOLUNTEER

If you can’t donate or adopt/foster, consider volunteering! Reach out to them via Instagram to find out how you can be of help. Volunteers at BARC go on vet runs, give the shelter animals some TLC, and are the backbone of the rescue community. A little bit of your time can go a long way.

3. ADOPT

Are you looking for a dog or cat to join your family? Consider adopting an animal as it can change BOTH your lives! Many dogs and cats at BARC are awaiting their furever homes. Check out animals up for adoption through BARC’s Insta, Website, Insta Cat Page, and contact them to inquire. Stay tuned for the next Cuddle Day at the shelter which is a great opportunity to meet the shelter animals and possibly find your future furry bestie.

4. FOSTER

Are you working from home or want to help take care of animals but aren’t ready to adopt? Enter the shelter’s foster program and help out an animal by giving them a loving home to wait for their future adopters.

Fostering is amazing because it’s a win-win for everybody involved. You get all the cat or dog cuddles while helping them transition into their future home, and be part of a life-changing experience. You’ll never know, you might end up adopting the little guy!

5. SHARE

If you want to help but don’t have the resources or time, the best thing you can do is spread the word and share the shelter’s efforts on your social media or through word of mouth.

Just by sharing their posts you’re helping them reach out to the community further which is very impactful!

6. Support the Second Hand Store

Did you know the shelter also has a second-hand shop? If you’re an avid thrifter check out their shop for some good finds!

Do you have things around your house in good condition that you’re wanting to part with? Donate them to the shop!
