Elon Musk Is Giving Away A 100 Million Dollar Prize To Remove Carbon From The Atmosphere

It’s Elon’s world, and we’re all just living in it…

Elon Musk has been in the news quite a bit lately, what with him becoming the world’s richest man and buying a bunch of bitcoin. He’s back on everyone’s radar, but this time it’s for a cause!

As part of the X Prize foundation, Elon Musk announced a 100 million dollar competition to solve the world’s carbon emission issues.

This is how it’s set up, entrants must submit proposals to remove carbon from the atmosphere or the oceans. As well as a environmentally safe method of storing that carbon. Their proposals also must be capable of being implemented on a “gigaton scale.”

After 18 months, the top 15 applicants will receive 1 million dollars to build their full scale demonstrations. And when all is said and done the first place prize winner will receive 50 million!! Followed by 20 million for the second and 10 million for the third. The rest of the funds will be given to student entrants as 200,000 USD scholarships!

Are there any local geniuses applying?
