A Greener Bahrain! 749K Mangrove Trees Were Planted in the Kingdom in 2023

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, had a sit-down with Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa at Gudaibiya Palace. What’s on the agenda? Well, they’re diving into the world of mangroves in Bahrain!

The Crown Prince is all about pushing forward development initiatives and making sure the Kingdom hits its environmental goals. His Royal Highness was briefed by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, HE Eng Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, regarding the latest developments in mangrove cultivation in the Kingdom. A total of 749,000 mangroves were planted by the end of November this year, achieving 163% of the original goal of 460,000 by the end of 2023. They also took a look at how Bahrain rocked the afforestation game in 2023, all part of the plan to hit net-zero carbon neutrality by 2060. The Crown Prince gave a shoutout to the hardworking folks behind the afforestation efforts, saying their dedication put Bahrain ahead of schedule.

Environmental warriors, take note – Bahrain’s not messing around. The Crown Prince made it clear that the fight against climate change is a top priority, and they’ve got the projects and programs to prove it. Sheikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa was also in on the action, attending the meeting!
