Bahrain Ranks Second for COVID-19 Recovery in the World

Bahrain COVID-19 Recovery

Bahrain has been ranked second in the Nikkei Covid-19 Recovery Index among 120 countries. This is for the time period until September 30th.

Bahrain ranks higher than Malta, while Chile shares second place with Bahrain. The index assesses 121 countries and regions in terms of COVID recovery by calculating a score between 0 and 90 based on nine factors divided into three categories: infection management, vaccine rollouts, and mobility.

As a country rises in the rankings, it is closer to recovering — with low infection rates, higher immunization rates, and fewer restrictions on social interactions. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates both scored 71%, and Bahrain scored 72%, just one point behind Malta. The methodology for the ranking has updated to reflect vaccination progress worldwide, according to Nikkei. In addition to assessing the proportion of people who received at least one shot, there is also a subcategory for vaccinations that looks at the percentage of people who are fully vaccinated with two shots.
