This Local Architect Recolored Some Vintage Photos & the Result Is Everything

Absolutely brilliant

Firas Al Obaidly is a Bahrain-based architect who’s been experimenting with colorizing vintage photographs of Bahrain’s Royal Family, famous Bahraini landmarks, and other iconic vintage photos of our island. He’s been working on this for a while now and his work has been getting the right recognition it deserves. Firas also includes historical facts in the descriptions of his recolorizations and here are some of his recent pieces:

 HM King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa

Here’s a rare portrait of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, in his youth. Circa 1960s.

HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa

Portrait of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa (1935 – 2020), wearing the Order of Two Rivers medal from Iraq, He was the first and longest-serving Prime Minister of Bahrain from 1970 until his death in 2020.

HRH Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa

Portrait of HRH Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa (1940 – 2009). He was the youngest of three sons of the hakim of Bahrain, Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
