Life as a creative is a journey of constant lust after one’s dreams. It’s a given that you have to run after what you want in order to get it, but this concept is pushed past its limits in the creative world in particular.
Ahmed AlQasim achieved that by taking a very practical approach towards his creative career path, which made all the difference in keeping him going with what he loves, whilst also ensuring a comfortable way of living.
On this week’s episode, we sat down with Ahmed AlQasim to talk about music as a career and delve into the life of a creative

Ahmed’s journey panned out successfully for him, but it wasn’t always looking up
When Ahmed started out, he was in a good place, but it was a roller coaster journey more than anything else. When he had shows lined up, it felt good, but he constantly had to be prepared for the ‘slow’ seasons.
He talks specifically about two occasions where the gigs weren’t coming in – his first summer as a full time musician and the recent COVID-19 pandemic. This is where the ‘practical approach to a creative career’ really holds up in terms of sustainability – it kept him on his feet through the more difficult times along his creative path.
Ahmed’s biggest advice for you?
Don’t quit your day job – yet.
Even with the more creative careers, there does have to be a method to the madness. Some things are more subjective and whimsical, but when we’re talking careers, Ahmed’s advice is to let your day job support your passions, until you get to the point where you’re ready to jump into it and support your dreams without it.
