Local x Local: Ali Monfaradi Talks About Life As A Jiu Jitsu World Champ

The world of sports and martial arts is one that’s growing in Bahrain, and if you think back to about a decade or two ago, Jiu Jitsu as a martial art wasn’t on the map as prominently as it is today. There’s a huge JJ community that has developed in Bahrain over the years, and you can basically find it all in this one academy of great coaches and trainers. Scroll below!!

On this week’s episode, we sat down with Ali Monfaradi, a professional Bahraini Jiu Jitsu athlete

As in, a professional jiu Jitsu WORLD CHAMPION. Ali has been competing in various international Jiu Jitsu competitions for years, and he’s now also the owner of, as well as Head Coach at the Elements Jiu Jitsu Academy. When he first started out in his Jiu Jitsu journey, he was literally a 12 year old competing with adults – at a time where the martial art wasn’t widely recognized in Bahrain, either.

Ali now splits his time between competing on an international scale, as well as running the academy. He’s constantly after improvement and self-betterment, and also ensures that he passes that inspo positive influence on to his students!

It’s an academy for absolutely everyone

Child or adult, beginner or experienced, you’ll find your place at Elements. They take in absolutely anyone interested in the martial arts, and train you up like a PRO. To give you an idea of what we mean by ‘pro,’ Ali himself received a Gold medal in the IBJJF World Championship back in 2012. Ali was the only Middle Eastern male in the WORLD to get a medal at this event, let alone a Gold one!!! Talk about putting Bahrain on the map, once again.

What Ali and the coaches at Elements are trying to do is take the martial art up to a more professional scale, and they’ve been successful so far! Which means – hopefully, we’ll be seeing everyone training there competing internationally as well, pretty soon!! It’s safe to say that anyone who trains here is in great hands.

And, for all you ladies tryna UP your fighting skills

Ali told us about the self defense classes offered at Elements, where you’ll get a grasp of all the basic moves you need to be aware of!
