Google’s secret weapon: Tensor
Google is finally going for it. After a decade of making mid range phones and always playing second fiddle to Apple and Samsung, Google is going after the most coveted spot during every tech launch- The Flagship.
Google has been giving certain tech bloggers and reviewers access to their new flagship models: the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro. And although, most companies would be singing praises about the new, improved and cutting edge features of their phones at this point, Google hasn’t. They’ve instead decided to focus on one single aspect of the Pixel 6: a chip. Specifically, the Tensor SoC chip that’s going to be inside it. Don’t get us wrong, they’ve released pictures and videos of the Pixel 6, and they look amazing; with a truly new design and some really exciting colorways. But its not what they want us to focus on.
The Tensor is an SoC, meaning that it isn’t exactly “one” chip. Its a system of components that each do something different, but still work together. So for example, the security aspect of the new Pixel will be taken care of by the Titan M2 chip that Google designs and makes, along with the AI aspect of the Pixel which will be handled by a TPU that Google also makes. But the rest, like CPU, GPU and 5G are still a mystery. Google might make their own, they might buy it from another company.

As expected from every flagship phone the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro do have the latest in everything. Both have a +6 inch screens, amazing cameras, great graphics, the whole gamut of everything new and shiny.
The BIG question now though is, will the Tensor SoC match up against Apple’s A-Series chips? We’ll have to wait and see.

جوجل أخيرًا راح تطلق تلفونها الخاص بعد عقد من صناعة الهواتف متوسطة المدى ودائمًا ما كانت تلعب الدور الثانوي لأبل وسامسونغ. جوجل تطمح وراء أكثر المواقع المرغوبة من خلال إطلاق تقني رائد.
تمنح جوجل بعض المدونين والمراجعين التقنيين إمكانية الوصول إلى طرازاتهم الرئيسية الجديدة: Pixel 6 و Pixel 6 Pro. وعلى الرغم من أن معظم الشركات ستثني هذي الميزات الجديدة والمحسّنة والمتطورة لهواتفها في هذه المرحلة ، إلا أن جوجل لم تفعل ذلك. لقد قرروا بدلاً من ذلك التركيز على جانب واحد من Pixel 6: شريحة معينة وهي، شريحة Tensor SoC التي ستكون بداخلها. إلي أطلقوا صورة ومقاطع فيديو لهاتف Pixel 6 ، وبالنسبة لنا تبدو مذهلة؛ بتصميم جديد حقًا وبعض الألوان العجيبة. لكن مو هذا الي نبي نركز عليه.
Tensor عبارة عن شريحة SoC متعددة المهام، مما يعني أنها مو شريحة وحدة بالضبط. هو عبارة عن نظام من المكونات يفعل كل منها وظيفة مختلفة، لكنها بالتأكيد تشتغل مع بعض. على سبيل المثال، سيتم الاهتمام بالجانب الأمني لجهاز Pixel الجديد بواسطة شريحة Titan M2 التي تصممها جوجل وتصنعها، جنبًا إلى جنب مع جانب AI من Pixel الذي سيتم التعامل معه بواسطة TPU التي تصنعها جوجل أيضًا. لكن البقية ، مثل CPU و GPU و 5G لا يزال لغز بالنسبة لنا. قد تصنع جوجل منتجاتها الخاصة، وقد تشتريها من شركة أخرى.
